PENANG INTERNATIONAL DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL 2007

GENERAL INFORMATION: INTERNATIONAL TEAM ONLY

1.    Date:    8 - 10 June 2007

2.    Venue: The brand new, beautiful, scenic and enchanting Teluk Bahang Dam, situated at the north-western tip of Penang Island, about 25 km from Georgetown, the capital city of Penang.

3.    Races:  There will be :-

17 International Races (All teams) as follows:- 

·         28th PIDBF Open Race In Big Boats

·         Penang International Open Race In Big Boats

·         Penang International Open Race In Small Boats

·         Penang International Women Race In Big Boats

·         Penang International Women Race In Small Boats

·         Penang International Mixed Race In Big Boats

·         Penang International Mixed Race In Small Boats

·         Penang International Junior Race In Big Boats

·         Penang International Junior Race In Small Boats

·         Penang International Senior Open Race In Big Boats

·         Penang International Senior Open Race In Small Boats

·         Penang International Senior Mixed Race In Big Boats

·         Penang International Senior Mixed Race In Small Boats

·         Penang International Airline Open Race In Big Boats

·         Penang International Airline Open Race In Small Boats

·         Penang International Breast Cancer Survivors Race In Big Boats

·         Penang International Breast Cancer Survivors Race In Small Boats

4.    Races: There must be a minimum 4 entries for each race to run.

5.    Boat: 

a) Big boat shall consist of a maximum of 20 men/women:

18 paddlers, 1 steersman, 1 drummer

b) Small boat shall consist of a maximum of 12 men/women:

10 paddlers, 1 steersman, 1 drummer 

6.    Distance: 2000 meter for the 28th PIDBF Open Race and 500 meter for all the other races.

7.    Racing Style: Seated

8.    Racing Format: All teams will follow the races from the early heats, repechage / semi-final and final.

9.    Rules & Regulations: International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) Rules and Regulations and Penang International Dragon Boat Festival (PIDBF) Rules & Regulations.

10.  Racing & Competition Classes:

·         Mixed class using big boat: Crews must consist of a minimum eight (8) women  paddlers

·         Mixed class using small boat: Crews must consist of a minimum four (4) women  paddlers

·         Junior class: Competitors under the age of eighteen (18) on the 1st January 2007

·         Senior class: Competitors over the age of 40 on the 1st January 2007

11.  Registration (Entry) Fees: USD$ 100.00 per event on International Race (for team not taking our special package)*

12.  Closing Date: 31st March 2007 (entry form can submit through email)

13.  Opening Ceremony: to be advised

14.  Open-Air Celebration Party: to be advised

15. Team: 28 members comprising 2 officials (team leader & manager) and 26 crews (coach, paddlers, drummer & steerer)
