Since 2002, the Penang International Dragon Boat Festival (PIDBF) has been staged at the Teluk Bahang Dam. Located 1.2km from the seas off the northern coast of Penang Island, this is the newest dam in the State of Penang. The dam offers an ideal and safe racing environment with scenic views of the coastline and green hills. Every year, during the PIDBF, an integrated race village is set up within the dam’s premises to meet the needs of teams and supporters. Key facilities available include an international-class docking pontoon, a fleet of composite dragon boats, floating start and alignment pontoons, boats for lane marshals, a computerised control room, rest tents, a special events area and a stage.
